About Bushwick sur Seine

Bushwick sur Seine is a personal and evolving archive, an intersection of art, printed matter, and photography, curated from the heart of Bushwick by a French-born collector with a passion for the tactile, the conceptual, and the reproducible.

At the core of this collection lies a deep fascination with art and its reproducibility, how artists challenge originality, authorship, and the aura of the unique object through books, editions, and multiples. Drawing influence from artists like Wade Guyton, Richard Prince, and Christopher Wool, the collection explores themes of appropriation, mechanical reproduction, and the disruption of traditional art hierarchies.

Equally central is an engagement with photographic practice, from the rigorous documentation of the Düsseldorf School to the lyrical emptiness of staged interiors, the reflective gaze of American street photography, and the memory-laden narratives embedded in New Topographics. These works do not simply record, they suggest, frame, and often withhold. They create space for slowness, for ambiguity, for reflection.

Bushwick sur Seine is not just about looking, nor about reading in the traditional sense. It’s about the convergence of print and presence, where the book evolves from a secondary vessel into a primary artistic medium. What once served merely as a catalog, offset-printed reproductions of C-prints, paintings, or installations, has, through technological shifts, become a site of production itself. Today, the materiality of ink, the grain of paper, the precision of digital print allows for a collapse of boundaries between artwork and edition. Artbooks, photo-books, and ephemera are no longer documentation, they are autonomous works, inseparable from the ideas they embody.

The collection resists borders and definitions. It is not a gallery, nor a store, nor a library. It is a cabinet of echoes, where high meets low, where commercial technique meets poetic intent, where Bushwick meets the Seine.
